FEATURES & BENEFITS Training in Industry Competencies and Key Sub-skills
Jobs and Alarms The user can choose between
a number of jobs to complete, or a number of alarm conditions to diagnose
and correct. The jobs are presented via a series of "Job Cards". The
job goal and the relevant component tasks are set out on the Job Card
just as work is presented to a process control operator in a real plant.
For example, a job may require the trainee to modify or adjust a temperature
or pressure to maintain production targets within agreed safety boundaries.
Alarms are presented in a realistic alarm panel and the user selects
an alarm to fix. Faults are the most challenging error conditions because
users must diagnose the problem and apply their knowledge of relevant
sub-procedures to correct the situation. The benefit of this is that
performing realistic jobs is a powerful way to gain the expert knowledge
of an experienced process control operator. The identification of key
sub-procedures allows learning tasks to be divided into manageable pieces
that increase instructional efficiency and effectiveness. Practice on
these tasks increases the transfer of learning between jobs as these
tasks are repeated across various conditions. Tasks or sub-procedures
in the simulation system are closely matched to industry standard training
competencies. |
